Divorce
If you are going through a separation or you are struggling with divorce it might be helpful
to seek counseling in order to adjust to your new life. When parents decide it's best that
they separate or divorce the children go through an expected adjustment period. It can be
helpful for the children to speak with a therapist in order to work through the feelings that
they are experiencing during this difficult time. It can be equally, if not more important, for
both parents to work with a professional. Parents may not always know how to answer
questions asked by their children regarding the separation and they must be very careful not
to speak negatively about the other parent. Discipline can become more challenging and
some parents suddenly find it difficult to enforce rules that they had in the past. Online and
telephone counseling can be very helpful and convenient when a family is going through a
separation or divorce.
Children, under the age of thirtheen, who's parents are going through a divorce should see
a therapist face-to-face. However, teens may refuse this method yet may be willing to try
online counseling.
