Is Online or Telephone Counseling right for you?
This decision is best made together with your therapist and should be based on your
individual situation. Online therapy is not appropriate for everyone, especially those in
crisis.
Online and telephone counseling is usually successful with those who have minimal to
moderate life struggles, whether it be by themselves or with their children or family members.
Please read futher to learn more about telephone and online therapy as well as Dr.
Lacoff's online and telephone practice.
Dr. Stefanie Lacoff holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is licensed in the state
of Connecticut as a Professional Counselor. Having worked in the behavioral health
field since 1994, she began her work at the Center for Group Counseling, in Boca
Raton, FL. There she lead groups at the center and in the public school system while
continuing to counsel individuals through 1998. At which time, she moved to the New
York area where she completed a three-year pre and post doctoral training program at the
Center for Preventive Psychiatry (CPP) in White Plains, NY.
She has enjoyed working with children, adolescents and their families throughout the
years and has been in private practice since 1999. Dr. Lacoff works with families
affected by divorce, adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, Depression,
Oppositional Defiant disorder to name some.
Throughout her training, Dr. Lacoff has worked with people from different backgrounds
with various disorders. She has worked with children as young as two-years-old,
teenagers, adults and families. Dr. Lacoff has been offering both online and telephone
counseling since 2001. Although traditional counseling has its advantages over online
and telephone therapy, the benefits of this type of treatment should not be discounted.
Dr. Lacoff has found this means of communication to be successful and it allows her to
reach people who may not otherwise benefit from her counseling.
